Hey Ollie Family! It’s Elizabeth with Sleep Baby Sleep Consulting. I’m an infant and toddler sleep consultant and a longtime fan of The Ollie Swaddle! I tell people all the time how amazing the Ollie is because it is truly the best swaddle I’ve ever used. So, you can imagine how excited I was when The Dailies were released! Not only are they beautiful and soft they are perfect to pair with The Ollie to help your baby sleep well and stay cool.

I live in North Carolina where summer lasts of the year and, while I am a huge fan of the sunshine and heat, clients frequently ask me if swaddling their little ones causes them to get too hot! I really encourage families to swaddle until their child has outgrown the moro reflex (or they start rolling) but when it’s 100 degrees outside, I completely understand their worries! The Ollie World has done an amazing job creating the fabric for The Ollie and The Dailies so that this isn't a concern. It wicks moisture away from the body and helps your little one regulate their temperature easily. These two pair perfectly together for great sleep!

To go with this amazing pair, I have a few tips for keeping your little one cool and comfortable in the summer heat:

  • Keep your baby’s room temperature between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit and keep the air moving with a fan. It can be a ceiling fan or a portable one but the cool moving air really contributes to good sleep and can help reduce the risk of SIDS. Blackout curtains are another way to help regulate the temperature in their room. The material helps block heat as well as light from getting inside.
  • Pick up a stroller or clip-on fan to keep baby cool on the go. Strollers and rear-facing car seats get really hot, get baby a personal fan that you can clip nearby to keep the air moving and cool them down. Make sure it is out of the reach of little fingers! These are available everywhere and pretty inexpensive. I love any that have rechargeable batteries.
  • Dress your baby in clothing that allows for air circulation and keeps them comfortable. In the summer you are often going from heat to freezing air conditioning so you want clothing that can adapt with the environment. I always suggest keeping a light blanket in your diaper bag that you can tuck around your baby when you go inside somewhere that has the AC blasting. It’s much easier than trying to strip off layers when you get outside.

Helping your baby regulate their temperature is not only important for their health, it impacts their demeanor too! A baby who is too hot or too cold is often fussy and it can be hard to figure out exactly what they need. Help solve this by keeping their sleeping area cool and comfortable and dressing them appropriately. The creation of The Dailies takes the amazing fabric that we know and love from The Ollie and puts it right next to baby’s skin where they need it most. The two together work to create an optional sleep environment for your baby leading to better nighttime sleep and naps!
