"Anti-racism isn’t simply being idle — it is activating and responding to systemic racism. Sadly, many folx who are taking these DEI courses (that’s diversity; equity; inclusion) are the same who don’t understand that this isn’t limited to their own understanding of what that may include.
If you are an anti-racist you must also consider and acknowledge Asian Americans in your discourse. You must educate, respond, activate yourself and your communities.
For far too long Asian Americans have been told they are the model minority and they have proximity to whiteness, which is a dangerous excuse to mean that violence against our bodies isn’t considered racist. It excuses those who harm us as doing so not being of anti-Asian hate or sentiments. But as we’ve seen from history — from the largest lynching in America that killed dozens of Chinese immigrants — to Vincent Chin, to the merciless death of Fong Lee by police to the recent killing of Christian Hall, and so so so many more, these issues just don’t seem to matter. There isn’t mass outrage, changing reforms, or media coverage.
That ends today with you. Will you stand with me and acknowledge that my life is worthy? That I am part of the BIPOC community? That if my life is taken there will be those who care?
Will you finally see and hear me?"

Anti-Asian racism and violent attacks on Asian elderly have only increased in the past year. Hate speech and violence against the AAPI community has run rampant.

This week on March 16th, 2021, 8 Asian American women were shot and killed inside Asian owned spas. We are heartbroken as individuals and as a company by these intolerable, hideous and unlawful acts of violence and are standing beside our AAPI communities everywhere today and always. Speaking up and standing in solidarity is how we can create change for our children and our future.

What is a hate crime?

A hate crime is typically one involving violence motivated by prejudice on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation or other grounds.

On March 15th, 2021, Stop AAPI Hate released their latest national report, tracking anti-AAPI hate incidents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"From March 2020 to February 2021, we received a total of 3,795 hate incident reports from individuals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Our data offer proof of the size and scope of the tragedy that is anti-Asian racism and xenophobia in the United States."
